A New Thing (& other news)

A New Thing (& other news)

lariat necklace

It’s still January, so I’ll wish everyone a Happy New Year!

I taught through the holiday since three of my fluties had area auditions this past week-end. Proud flute mama - Miss Addie made the TMEA all-state for the fourth year in a row. That’s a pretty rare feat. She’s been with me since she was 6 years old. It’s hard to imagine that she’s about to graduate! I’m so dang proud of her!

Now for the “New Thing.” A few months ago, a much appreciated patron and customer asked if I would consider designing and making some lariat necklaces. They're pretty cool, having no clasp, just long & beaded, so can be worn in multiple ways! I was in the middle of some shows at the time, so I’ve just gotten around to trying them. You’ll see the results in either the Just Created or Lariats collections on the website. (Links below) They’ve been fun, and I’ll definitely do some more. Thanks for the idea, Veena B.!! (She knows I’m using her name.) Please also check out the other new creations in the Just Created collection!

I’ll be doing something different for the Lubbock Arts Festival this year. I’ll be participating as a demonstrating artist as well as selling my woven wire creations. More on that later, but if you’re in the area April 18-19, come watch!

My first show of this year is next month in San Antonio at the Texas Music Educators Convention. If you’ll be at TMEA, I’m booth 1330, near the front entrance to the exhibit hall. I’ve sold a lot of my earrings, so tomorrow I’m starting on more of those. All of the new cabochons I ordered have arrived, and I can’t wait to use them in wire weaving & wrapping creations!

We’ve hardly had a winter here on the south plains, though it is quite chilly at the moment. And only a bare teaspoon of moisture. We do need some - or a lot - of that.

Hubby Bob put in a fire tonight, and I brought my laptop in so I could enjoy the warmth while typing this. When I finish, I think I’ll continue to sit here and treat myself to a good book!

I pray that everyone’s year is off to a wonderful and fulfilling start.

Blessings,
Anna
